Connecting with Customers

This session covers strategies to connect with customers at the farmers market including how to educate customers about vegetables, promote your products & grow your business with excellent customer service.

About speaker:

Daniel Wilson has been involved in non-traditional gardening since a weekend 4-H Horticulture Retreat, where he was introduced to hydroponics. This style of growing vegetables. In high school, Daniel created his own Lawn and Gardening business. Daniel, along with his sister, raised 5 acres of produce for sale at the Pittsburg County Farmers Market in 1989. This paid off when Daniel earned a scholarship to OSU in Horticulture. 

In the past 4 years he has started market gardening again by raising vegetables in Oklahoma’s largest media based aquaponic system and utilizing hoop houses for season extension. Daniel is currently a board member at the Pittsburg County Farmers Market and the acting market manager. He also is a Master Gardener, a member of the Southeast Oklahoma Beekeepers Association, a member of Home Grown Hero’s for veteran farmers, on the Community Kitchen Advisory Board, and an advisory member for the Pittsburg County Family Consumer Science program.
